Privacy
What this website records about visitors, and why.
This website belongs to Amith J. Kamath, Bern, Switzerland, who is responsible for the data described here. It shows no advertising and sells no data. To ask what is held about you, or to have it deleted, use the contact form.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and to protect them against attacks.
Access code
Some pages need an access code. When you enter the right code, the site records the time, Cloudflare’s estimate of your country, region and city, your network’s provider, and your browser and device type. Your IP address itself is not stored: a one-way hash of it is kept instead, so that entries from the same network can be grouped. These records are kept for one year. Wrong codes are counted per network for 48 hours to stop guessing.
Entering the code sets one cookie, access_session, which keeps you signed in for 30 days. Sign out, at the foot of the Notes page, removes it.
Contact form
The form stores your name, email address and message, with Cloudflare’s estimate of your country and the same one-way hash of your network, so that I can reply and limit abuse. Messages may be forwarded to my own mailbox through the email service Resend. They are kept until I delete them and are never shared.
Security check
The access code prompt and the contact form use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated programs. It runs in your browser and does not set tracking cookies.
Visitor map
A hidden, sandboxed frame from MapMyVisitors counts visits and their approximate location, derived from your IP address.
Fonts and libraries
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from jsDelivr and Cloudflare’s cdnjs. Your browser fetches these directly, which tells those services your IP address. The light or dark theme you choose is remembered in your own browser only.
